Explanatory note
This note is not part of the notice, but is intended to indicate its general effect.
The notice relates to a customary food gathering area/rohe moana of the tangata whenua represented by Te Rūnanga o Waihao. The area/rohe moana is an area in Canterbury proceeding from the mouth of the Waitaki River to the mouth of the Pareora River and extending seaward for 200 miles and inland to specified boundaries.
Notice is given of the appointment of 4 Tāngata Tiaki/Kaitiaki and the cancellation of the appointment of 2 Tāngata Tiaki/Kaitiaki for the area/rohe moana. The Minister of Fisheries made the appointments at the request of Te Rūnanga o Waihao.
The powers of Tāngata Tiaki/Kaitiaki are set out in the regulations.
