Explanatory note

This note is not part of the regulations, but is intended to indicate their general effect.

These regulations, which come into force on 19 April 2019, amend the date on which the Fire and Emergency New Zealand (Levy Rates and Information Requirements in Transitional Period) Regulations 2017 (the principal regulations) are revoked.

The principal regulations provide for a levy to fund Fire and Emergency New Zealand (FENZ) during the transitional period between the passing of the Fire and Emergency New Zealand Act 2017 (the Act) and the coming into force of that Act’s new levy regime.

These regulations amend the revocation clause of the principal regulations, which automatically revokes the principal regulations on the earlier of 1 July 2019 or the date on which the new levy regime comes into force. The amendment removes the reference to 1 July 2019 in order to provide that the regulations will be revoked when the new levy regime comes into force.

Issued under the authority of the Legislation Act 2012.

Date of notification in Gazette: 18 April 2019.

These regulations are administered by the Department of Internal Affairs.
