Local Government Members (2020/21) Amendment Determination 2020: revoked (with effect on 1 July 2021, and after expiring on the close of 30 June 2021), on 8 July 2021, pursuant to clause 16 of the Local Government Members (2021/22) Determination 2021 (LI 2021/173).

Pursuant to the Remuneration Authority Act 1977 and to clauses 6 and 7A(1) and (5) of Schedule 7 of the Local Government Act 2002, the Remuneration Authority, after having regard to the matters specified in clause 7 of that schedule, makes the following determination (to which is appended an explanatory memorandum).

Determination

1 Title

This determination is the Local Government Members (2020/21) Amendment Determination 2020.

2 Commencement

(1)

Clause 7(2) is deemed to have come into force on 22 July 2020.

(2)

The rest of this determination is deemed to have come into force on 1 July 2020.

3 Principal determination

This determination amends the Local Government Members (2020/21) Determination 2020 (the principal determination).

4 Clause 7 amended (Remuneration, allowances, and hearing fees payable)

In clause 7(3)(a), replace “14” with “14A”.

5 Clause 10 amended (Definition of member)

In clause 10, replace “14” with “14A”.

6 New clause 14A inserted (Special allowance for Gore District Council)

After clause 14, insert:

14A Special allowance for Gore District Council

Gore District Council may pay the Grants Sub-Committee Chair a special allowance of $4,652 per annum for the period 1 July 2020 to 30 June 2021.

7 Schedule amended

(1)

In the Schedule, Part 2, item relating to Hurunui District Council,—

(a)

item relating to Deputy Mayor, replace “32,865” with “33,497”:

revoke the item relating to Chair of Audit and Risk Committee:

(c)

Explanatory memorandum

This memorandum is not part of the determination, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This determination amends the Local Government Members (2020/21) Determination 2020. The amendments relating to the Otorohanga District Council are deemed to have come into force on 22 July 2020. The remainder of the determination is deemed to have come into force on 1 July 2020.

The amendments in this determination are made at the request of the councils concerned and approved by the Remuneration Authority. The special allowance attributed to Gore District Council addresses an outstanding issue.
