This order is made under section 2 of the Taumata Arowai–the Water Services Regulator Act 2020 on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council.

Order

1 Title

This order is the Taumata Arowai–the Water Services Regulator Act Commencement Order 2021.

2 Commencement of Taumata Arowai–the Water Services Regulator Act 2020

The Taumata Arowai–the Water Services Regulator Act 2020 (other than sections 10(b) and 11(e)) comes into force on 1 March 2021.

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This order brings the Taumata Arowai–the Water Services Regulator Act 2020 into force on 1 March 2021, except for—

  • section 10(b), which provides that one of Taumata Arowai’s objectives is to effectively administer the drinking water regulatory system; and

  • section 11(e), which provides that one of Taumata Arowai’s general functions is to monitor and enforce compliance with relevant drinking water legislation and standards, and other regulatory requirements for which Taumata Arowai has responsibility.

Sections 10(b) and 11(e) will be brought into force at the time when Taumata Arowai assumes responsibility for the drinking water regulatory system.
