Fisheries (Total Allowable Catch, Total Allowable Commercial Catch, and Deemed Value Rates) Amendment Notice 2021

Pursuant to sections 13 and 20 of the Fisheries Act 1996, the Minister for Oceans and Fisheries gives the following notice after complying with sections 11, 12, 13, and 21 of that Act.

Notice

1 Title

This notice is the Fisheries (Total Allowable Catch, Total Allowable Commercial Catch, and Deemed Value Rates) Amendment Notice 2021.

2 Commencement

This notice comes into force on 31 March 2021.

3 Application

This notice applies on and from the first day of the fishing year starting on 1 April 2021.

5 Schedule 1 amended

In Schedule 1, replace the items in columns 2 and 3 relating to CRA3, CRA4, GSC3, GSC5, GSC6A, and PHC1 with the corresponding items set out in columns 2 and 3 below:

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the notice, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

The amendments commence on 31 March 2021 but apply on and from the first day of the fishing year starting on 1 April 2021.

Schedule 1 of the principal notice is amended with the following effects:

Rock lobster—spiny (red)

  • for CRA3, total allowable catch (TAC) reduces from 351.9 to 302 and total allowable commercial catch (TACC) reduces from 222.9 to 195:

  • for CRA4, TAC reduces from 513.8 to 388 and TACC reduces from 318.8 to 280:

Giant spider crab

  • for GSC3, TAC increases from 15 to 21 and TACC increases from 14 to 19:

  • for GSC5, TAC increases from 20 to 96 and TACC increases from 19 to 86:

  • for GSC6A, TAC increases from 165 to 187 and TACC increases from 148 to 170:

Rock lobster—packhorse

  • for PHC1, TAC is introduced at 79.3 and TACC increases from 27 to 49.3.
