This order is made under section 23(1)(a) and (2)(a) of the Public Service Act 2020 on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council.

Order

1 Title

This order is the Public Service (Ministry for Ethnic Communities) Order 2021.

2 Commencement

This order comes into force on 1 July 2021.

3 Schedule 2 of Public Service Act 2020 amended

In the Public Service Act 2020, Schedule 2, Part 2, insert in its appropriate alphabetical order:

Ministry for Ethnic CommunitiesDepartment of Internal Affairs

Clerk of the Executive Council.

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This order, which comes into force on 1 July 2021, inserts the name of the Ministry for Ethnic Communities (the Ministry) into Part 2 of Schedule 2 of the Public Service Act 2020 (the principal Act), as a departmental agency hosted by the Department of Internal Affairs.

The Ministry is being established to increase the Government’s ability to work proactively with ethnic communities and provide a stronger connection between ethnic communities and government.

As a result of the order, the Ministry becomes a public service agency to which the principal Act applies.

Issued under the authority of the Legislation Act 2012.
