Explanatory note

This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This order is made under the Financial Service Providers (Registration and Dispute Resolution) Act 2008 and comes into force on 15 December 2021.

The Act was amended in 2019 to expand the range of persons who are required to be registered as financial service providers. Those amendments include transitional provisions that give existing providers a period of grace within which to become registered. This order sets 16 December 2021 as the date on which that grace period expires.

Issued under the authority of the Legislation Act 2012.

Date of notification in Gazette: 30 September 2021.

This order is administered by the Ministry of Business, Innovation, and Employment.
