This order is made under section 37 of the Road User Charges Act 2012 on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council.

Order

1 Title

This order is the Road User Charges (Exemption Period for Light Electric RUC Vehicles) Amendment Order 2021.

2 Commencement

This order comes into force on 10 December 2021.

4 Clause 4 amended (Exemption period for light electric RUC vehicles)

In clause 4(b), replace “31 December 2021” with “31 March 2024”.

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This order, which comes into force on 10 December 2021, amends the Road User Charges (Exemption Period for Light Electric RUC Vehicles) Order 2012 (the principal order).

The principal order specifies the period during which road user charges are not payable in respect of light electric RUC vehicles. That exemption period ends at the close of 31 December 2021.

This order extends the exemption period to the close of 31 March 2024.

The Ministry of Transport produced a regulatory impact statement on 31 May 2021 to help inform the decisions taken by the Government relating to the contents of this instrument.
