Order

1 Title

This order is the Oranga Tamariki (Minimum Rates of Payment for Board and Lodgings) Order 2022.

2 Commencement

By virtue of section 363(8) of the Oranga Tamariki Act 1989, this order comes into force on 1 April 2022.

3 Adjustment of minimum rates of payment in respect of board and lodgings of children and young persons

(1)

This order adjusts the rates that—

(a)

are the minimum rates of payment in respect of board and lodgings payable to persons and organisations in whose charge a child or young person is placed under section 362 of the Oranga Tamariki Act 1989; and

(b)

were determined under section 363(1) of that Act; and

(c)

were in force immediately before the commencement of this order.

(2)

The rates that this order adjusts are increased by 5.95%.

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This order, which comes into force on 1 April 2022, increases the minimum rates of payment in respect of board and lodgings made to persons and organisations in whose charge a child or young person is placed under section 362 of the Oranga Tamariki Act 1989 (the Act). The rates can be found at http://orangatamariki.govt.nz/

The minimum rates are increased by 5.95% to reflect (as required by section 363(5) of the Act) the annual increase in the New Zealand Consumers Price Index from the December 2020 quarter to the December 2021 quarter (calculated for all quarters using the New Zealand Consumers Price Index (All Groups)).
