This order is made under section 42A(2) of the Road User Charges Act 2012 on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council.

1 Title

This order is the Road User Charges (Temporary RUC Reduction Scheme Extension) Amendment Order 2022.

2 Commencement

This order comes into force on 22 July 2022.

4 Clause 3 amended (Temporary reduction period extended)

In clause 3, replace “21 September 2022” with “31 January 2023”.

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This order, which comes into force on 22 July 2022, amends the Road User Charges (Temporary RUC Reduction Scheme Extension) Order 2022 (the principal order). The amendment has the effect of further extending the period during which the rates of road user charges are reduced under section 42B of the Road User Charges Act 2012 (as inserted by the Road User Charges (Temporary RUC Reduction Scheme) Amendment Act 2022). The principal order initially extended the temporary reduction period by 2 months until 21 September 2022, and the effect of this order is to further extend the period so that it will end on 31 January 2023.

Regulatory impact statement

The Ministry of Transport will produce a post-implementation assessment of the temporary reduction scheme extended by this order.

A copy of the post-implementation assessment will be made available on the Ministry of Transport Internet site.
