This order is made under section 2(2) of the Self-contained Motor Vehicles Legislation Act 2023 on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council.

1 Title
This order is the Self-contained Motor Vehicles Legislation Act 2023 Commencement Order 2023.
2 Commencement of certain provisions of Self-contained Motor Vehicles Legislation Act 2023
The following provisions of the Self-contained Motor Vehicles Legislation Act 2023 come into force on 13 July 2023:
(a)
section 10 to the extent that it relates to new section 10(4) of the Freedom Camping Act 2011:
(b)
section 14(3), which relates to new section 15(2) of that Act:
(c)
section 17 to the extent that it relates to new section 19A(2) of that Act:
(d)
section 18 to the extent that it relates to new sections 20(1)(c), 20A(b), and 20B(c) of that Act.

Explanatory note
This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.
This order brings into force, on 13 July 2023, certain sections of the Self-contained Motor Vehicles Legislation Act 2023. Those sections insert new sections into the Freedom Camping Act 2011 (the 2011 Act). New sections 10(4), 15(2), and 19A(2) of the 2011 Act require a person freedom camping in a motor vehicle in certain areas to display a warrant card in the vehicle. New sections 20(1)(c), 20A(b), and 20B(c) of the 2011 Act are the associated offence provisions.
