Local Authorities (Members' Interests) Order 1971

PURSUANT to the Local Authorities (Members' Interests) Act 1968, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby makes the following order.

1 Title

  • This order may be cited as the Local Authorities (Members' Interests) Order 1971.

2 Local authorities

  • (1) Schedule 1 to the Local Authorities (Members' Interests) Act 1968 is hereby amended by inserting in the appropriate columns of Part I, after the item relating to approved organisations under the Hydatids Act 1968, the following item:

    Area electricity authorities 1967, No 160-The Electricity Distribution Commission Act 1967

    (2) Schedule 1 to the Local Authorities (Members' Interests) Act 1968 is hereby further amended by inserting in the appropriate columns of Part 1, after the item relating to Scenic Boards, the following item:

    Secondary Schools Councils 1964, No 135-The Education Act 1964

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

The effect of this order is that area electricity authorities constituted under section 28 of the Electricity Distribution Commission Act 1967 and Secondary Schools Councils constituted under the Education Act 1964 are local authorities for the purposes of the Local Authorities (Members' Interests) Act 1968

Issued under the authority of the Regulations Act 1936
