These regulations are made under section 37 of the Burial and Cremation Act 1964 on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council.
Regulations
1 Title
These regulations are the Cremation Amendment Regulations 2018.
2 Commencement
These regulations come into force on the day after the date of their notification in the Gazette.
3 Principal regulations
These regulations amend the Cremation Regulations 1973 (the principal regulations).
4 Regulation 2 amended (Interpretation)
In regulation 2, revoke the definition of medical practitioner.
5 Regulation 7 amended (Duties of Medical Referee)
In regulation 7(1), after “medical practitioner”
, insert “or nurse practitioner”
in each place.
6 Schedule 1 heading replaced
Replace the Schedule 1 heading with:
Schedule 1 Forms
rr 4, 5, 7, 9, 11
7 Schedule 1, form A amended

In Schedule 1, replace the form A heading with:

Explanatory note
This note is not part of the regulations, but is intended to indicate their general effect.
These regulations, which come into force on the day after the date of their notification in the Gazette, amend the Cremation Regulations 1973 to provide for nurse practitioners to give certificates of cause of death and certificates in relation to pacemakers and other biomechanical aids.
Issued under the authority of the Legislation Act 2012.
Date of notification in Gazette: 29 March 2018.
