Pursuant to the Armed Forces Canteens Act 1948, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby makes the following regulations.

Regulations

1 Title and commencement

(1)

These regulations may be cited as the Armed Forces Canteens (Fees and Travelling Expenses) Regulations 1974.

(2)

These regulations shall come into force on the day after the date of their notification in the Gazette.

2 Fees and travelling expenses for members of Council

(1)

The Armed Forces Canteen Council is hereby declared to be a statutory board within the meaning of the Fees and Travelling Allowances Act 1951.

(2)

There may, if the Minister of Defence so directs, be paid to each member of the Council (other than a member who is a serviceman within the meaning of the Defence Act 1971 or an officer or employee of the State services within the meaning of the Public Service Act 2020), out of money appropriated by Parliament for the purpose,—

(a)

remuneration for his services by way of fees, salary, or allowances, in accordance with the Fees and Travelling Allowances Act 1951; and

(b)

travelling allowances and travelling expenses, in accordance with the Fees and Travelling Allowances Act 1951, in respect of time spent by him travelling in the service of the Council.

(3)

The Fees and Travelling Allowances Act 1951 shall apply accordingly.
