Niue Constitution Act Commencement Order 1974

This Proclamation is administered in the Maori and Island Affairs Department.

  • Preamble

    WHEREAS by section 1(2) of the Niue Constitution Act 1974 it is provided that that Act shall come into force on a date to be appointed for the commencement thereof by the Governor-General by Proclamation:

    Now, therefore, pursuant to the said Act, I, Sir Edward Denis Blundell, the Governor-General of New Zealand, hereby proclaim as follows:

1 Title

  • This Proclamation may be cited as the Niue Constitution Act Commencement Order 1974.

2 Commencement of Niue Constitution Act

  • The Niue Constitution Act 1974 shall come into force at the hour of 11 o'clock in the evening on the 19th day of October 1974, being the time in New Zealand corresponding to the commencement of that date in Niue.

Issued under the authority of the Regulations Act 1936.

Date of notification in Gazette: 5 December 1974.
