New Zealand-Australia Free Trade Agreement Order (No 2) 1976: revoked, on 1 January 1983, pursuant to section 3(1) of the Customs Amendment Act 1982 (1982 No 126).

Changes authorised by subpart 2 of Part 3 of the Legislation Act 2019 have been made in this consolidation. See the notes at the end of this consolidation for further details.

This order is administered in the Department of Trade and Industry.

PURSUANT to section 3 of the New Zealand-Australia Free Trade Agreement Act 1965, and for the purpose of giving effect to the Agreement defined in that Act, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby makes the following order.

1 Title and commencement

(1)

This order may be cited as the New Zealand-Australia Free Trade Agreement Order (No 2) 1976.

(2)

This order shall come into force on the 1st day of January 1977.

2 Tariff amended

The Customs Tariff is hereby amended by revoking the Australian rate of duty in respect of each Tariff item specified in the Schedule hereto, being the rate of duty shown in the column of the Customs Tariff headed “Other Preferential Rates of Duty”, and substituting in each case the rate of duty set out opposite that item in that Schedule.

3 Consequential revocations

(1)

The New Zealand-Australia Free Trade Agreement Order (No 5) 19741 is hereby amended by revoking so much of Schedule 2 as relates to the Australian rate of Customs duty in the column headed “Other Preferential Rates of Duty”, in respect of Tariff items 44.28.013, 59.17.002, 71.03.000, 73.40.459, 82.09.011, 84.22.001, 84.24.191, 84.25.011, 85.15.271, 85.15.281, and 85.22.202.

The New Zealand-Australia Free Trade Agreement Order (No 6) 19742 is hereby amended by revoking so much of Schedule 2 as relates to the Australian rate of Customs duty in the column headed “Other Preferential Rates of Duty”, in respect of Tariff items 39.07.391, 75.06.001, 84.17.122, 84.59.125, and 98.03.003.

The Customs Tariff (Metalworking Machinery) Amendment Order 1975 is hereby amended by revoking so much of Schedule 2 as relates to the Australian rate of Customs duty in the column headed “Other Preferential Rates of Duty”, in respect of Tariff item 84.45.001.

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This order is made for the purpose of giving effect to the New Zealand-Australia Free Trade Agreement signed on 31 August 1965. The order reduces, from 1 January 1977, the rates of Customs duty on certain goods which were added to Schedule A of the New Zealand-Australia Free Trade Agreement on 1 January 1969, 1 January 1971, and 1 January 1975.
