Fisheries (Challenger Area Commercial Fishing) Amendment Regulations 2004

Note

These regulations are administered in the Ministry of Fisheries.

Pursuant to section 297 of the Fisheries Act 1996, Her Excellency the Governor-General, acting on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council, makes the following regulations.

  • These regulations come into force on 1 April 2004.

3 Restriction on method of taking kina, mussels, and sea cucumber

  • (1) The heading to regulation 14C of the principal regulations is amended by omitting the words “, mussels, and sea cucumber”.

    (2) Regulation 14C of the principal regulations is amended by omitting the words “, horse mussel, or sea cucumber”.

4 Regulation 14D revoked

  • Regulation 14D of the principal regulations is revoked.

5 Offences

  • Regulation 15(2) of the principal regulations is amended by omitting the expression “14D,”.

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the regulations, but is intended to indicate their general effect.

These regulations, which come into force on 1 April 2004, amend the Fisheries (Challenger Area Commercial Fishing) Regulations 1986. The amendments omit references to horse mussels and sea cucumber in regulation 14C and revoke regulation 14D. These regulations place restrictions on taking horse mussels and sea cucumber in quota management area 7. These species are being introduced into the quota management system on 1 April 2004.
