Pursuant to section 28OB of the Fisheries Act 1983 and section 7 of the Constitution Act 1986, the Minister for Food, Fibre, Biosecurity and Border Control, after having regard to the matters specified in section 28D of the Fisheries Act 1983, gives the following notice.

1 Title and commencement

(1) This notice may be cited as the Fisheries (Quota Management Areas, Total Allowable Catches, and Catch Histories) Amendment Notice 1998, and is part of the Fisheries (Quota Management Areas, Total Allowable Catches, and Catch Histories) Notice 1986 (SR 1986/267) (
“the principal notice”
).(2) This notice comes into force on 1 October 1998.
2 Total allowable commercial catch for barracouta reduced

Schedule 1 of the principal notice is amended by omitting item D of the item relating to barracouta, and substituting the following item:

Explanatory note
This note is not part of the notice, but is intended to indicate its general effect.
This notice, which comes into force on 1 October 1998, alters various total allowable commercial catches for quota species. In addition, it sets new total allowable commercial catches for black cardinalfish, frostfish, ghost shark, ribaldo, rubyfish, sea perch, trumpeter, white warehou, and yellow mullet, all species which come into the quota management system on 1 October 1998.
