Pursuant to sections 28C and 28OB of the Fisheries Act 1983, the Minister for Food, Fibre, Biosecurity and Border Control gives the following notice.

1 Title and commencement

(1) This notice may be cited as the Fisheries (Quota Management Areas, Total Allowable Catches, and Catch Histories) Amendment Notice 1999, and is part of the Fisheries (Quota Management Areas, Total Allowable Catches, and Catch Histories) Notice 1986 (SR 1986/267) (
“the principal notice”
).(2) This notice comes into force on 1 October 1999.
2 Total allowable commercial catch for cardinal fish set

Schedule 1 of the principal notice is amended by inserting, in their appropriate alphabetical order and in the appropriate columns in the items relating to black cardinalfish, the following items:
A Auckland (East) 1 1200 I Auckland (West) 9 4
3 Total allowable commercial catch for pale ghost shark set

Schedule 1 of the principal notice is amended by inserting, after the items relating to ghost shark, the following items:
Pale ghost shark A. Auckland (East) 1, 2, 3, 4 509 B Central (East) 10 C South-East (Coast) D South-East (Chatham Rise) J Kermadec E Southland 5, 6 118 F Sub-Antarctic G Challenger/Central (Plateau) 7, 8, 9 176 H Auckland (West) I Central (Egmont)
4 Total allowable commercial catch for oreo dories in Central/Challenger area reduced

Schedule 1 of the principal notice is amended by revoking item B of the items relating to oreo dories and substituting the following item:
B Central/Challenger, South-East (Cook Strait/Kaikoura), and South-East (Strathallan) combined 3A, 3B 5,9000
5 Total allowable commercial catch for paua in Stewart Island area reduced

Schedule 1 of the principal notice is amended by revoking so much of item E of the items relating to paua as relates to the Stewart Island area (PAU 5B), and substituting the following entries:
Stewart Island PAU 5B 143.984

Explanatory Note
This note is not part of the notice, but is intended to indicate its general effect.
This notice, which comes
into force on 1 October 1999, sets total allowable commercial catches
(“TACCs”
for certain species as follows:
-
new TACCs are set for black cardinal fish in areas 1 and 9
-
new TACCs are set for pale ghost shark in areas 1 to 10
-
the TACC for oreo dories in the Central/Challenger area is reduced from 6,600 to 5,900 tonnes
-
the TACC for paua in the Stewart Island area is reduced from 147.66 to 143.984 tonnes.
