Pursuant to sections 28C and 28OB of the Fisheries Act 1983, the Minister of Fisheries, after having regard to the matters specified in section 28D of that Act, gives the following notice.

1 Title

(1) This notice is the Fisheries (Quota Management Areas, Total Allowable Catches, and Catch Histories) Amendment Notice 2000.
(2) In this notice, the Fisheries (Quota Management Areas, Total Allowable Catches, and Catch Histories) Notice 1986 (SR 1986/267) is called the
“principal notice”
.
2 Commencement

This notice comes into force on 1 April 2000.
3 Total allowable commercial catch for southern blue whiting

Schedule 1 of the principal notice is amended by inserting, after the items relating to snapper, the following items:
Southern blue whiting (Micromesistius australis) A Auckland (East), Auckland (West), Central (East), Central (Egmont), Challenger/Central (Plateau), South-East (Coast), South-East (Chatham Rise), Southland and Kermadec combined SBW1 8 B Auckland Island SBW6A 1 640 C Bounty Platform SBW6B 8 000 D Campbell Rise SBW6I 20 000 E Pukaki Rise SBW6R 5 500
4 Quota management areas inserted

Schedule 2 of the principal notice is amended by inserting, after the item relating to quota management area PAU 7—Challenger (Nelson/Marlborough), the following items:
“Quota management area SBW6A—Auckland Islands
“All that area of New Zealand fisheries waters within Fishery Management Area 6 west of 168°30.0′E.
“Quota management area SBW6B—Bounty Platform
“All that area of New Zealand fisheries waters within Fishery Management Area 6 east of 176°E.
“Quota management area SBW6I—Campbell Rise
“All that area of New Zealand fisheries waters within Fishery Management Area 6 south of a line at 50°30.0′S, which line extends in the west to 168°30.0′E, and in the east to 176°E. This area is bounded in the west by a line extending due south from a point at 168°30.0′E, and in the east by a line extending due south from a point at 176°E.
“Quota management area SBW6R—Pukaki Rise
“All that area of New Zealand fisheries waters within Fishery Management Area 6 north of a line at 50°30.0′S, which line extends in the west to 168°30.0′E, and in the east to 176°E. This area is bounded in the west by a line extending due north from a point at 168°30.0′E, and in the east by a line extending due north from a point at 176°E.”

This note is not part of the notice, but is intended to indicate its general effect.
This notice, which comes into force on 1 April 2000, sets new total allowable commercial catches for southern blue whiting in various new quota management areas which are defined in the notice.
Issued under the authority of the Acts and Regulations Publication Act 1989.
