Pursuant to section 34 of the Decimal Currency Act 1964, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby makes the following regulations.
Regulations
1 Title
These regulations may be cited as the Coinage (National Parks Centennial Dollar) Regulations 1987.
2 National Parks Centennial Dollar
(1)
Notwithstanding anything in regulation 2(a) of the Coinage Regulations 1967, the design for the one-dollar coin to be known as the 1987 National Parks Centennial Dollar, to be made and issued pursuant to section 10(1) of the Decimal Currency Act 1964, shall be as follows:
(a)
for the obverse impression, the effigy of Her Majesty the Queen in profile wearing a diadem, with the inscription “ELIZABETH II NEW ZEALAND”
around the periphery of the coin and the date “1987”
below the effigy:
(b)
for the reverse impression, a mountain scene encircled by a “C”
shaped symbol terminating with the emblem of the Maori koru. The words “NATIONAL PARKS CENTENNIAL”
and “ONE DOLLAR”
shall appear around the periphery of the coin.
(2)
Except as provided in subclause (1), all the provisions of the Coinage Regulations 1967 relating to the one-dollar coin shall apply to the coin referred to in that subclause.

Explanatory note
This note is not part of the regulations, but is intended to indicate their general effect.
These regulations prescribe the design for a dollar coin to be known as the 1987 National Parks Centennial Dollar. The design is illustrated below, with the Maklouf design used for the effigy of Her Majesty.

1 General
This is a consolidation of the Coinage (Kakapo Dollar) Regulations 1986 that incorporates the amendments made to the legislation so that it shows the law as at its stated date.
2 Legal status
A consolidation is taken to correctly state, as at its stated date, the law enacted or made by the legislation consolidated and by the amendments. This presumption applies unless the contrary is shown.
Section 78 of the Legislation Act 2019 provides that this consolidation, published as an electronic version, is an official version. A printed version of legislation that is produced directly from this official electronic version is also an official version.
3 Editorial and format changes
