Pursuant to section 24 of the New Zealand Horticulture Export Authority Act 1987, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting on the recommendation of the Minister of Agriculture and the Minister of Overseas Trade and Marketing made in compliance with section 25 of that Act, and by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby makes the following order.

Order

1 Title and Commencement

This order may be cited as the Horticultural Prescribed Products (Avocados) Order 1989.

This order shall come into force on the 28th day after the date of its notification in the Gazette.

2 Interpretation

In this order,—

Act means the New Zealand Horticulture Export Authority Act 1987

avocados means the product specified in clause 3.

3 Avocados declared to be a prescribed product

The following product is hereby declared to be a prescribed product for the purposes of the New Zealand Horticulture Export Authority Act 1987:

Avocado, fruit of Persea americana.

Clause 3: amended, on 10 November 2000, by clause 3 of the Horticultural Prescribed Products (Avocados) Amendment Order 2000 (SR 2000/229).

4 Avocados to be subject to export licensing

Avocados are hereby declared to be subject to export licensing in accordance with Part 3 of the Act.

5 Recognised product group

N.Z. Avocado Growers Association Incorporated is the product group recognised under section 25 of the Act as suitable to carry out the functions of a recognised product group in relation to avocados.

1 General

This is a consolidation of the Horticultural Prescribed Products (Avocados) Order 1989 that incorporates the amendments made to the legislation so that it shows the law as at its stated date.
