Explanatory note
This note is not part of the regulations, but is intended to indicate their general effect.
These regulations, which come into force on the 28th day after the date of their notification in the Gazette, amend the Births, Deaths, and Marriages Registration (Fees) Regulations 1995.
The Department of Internal Affairs proposes to provide the option of decorative certificates for some of its products. Initially, only decorative birth certificates will be available, but at a later date decorative certificates may be made available for other events such as marriages and civil unions.
The amendments provide that the fee for a decorative certificate when purchased alone is $26, which is the same fee as for a standard certificate. The fee for a standard certificate and a decorative certificate for the same event is $39 when they are purchased together.
Issued under the authority of the Acts and Regulations Publication Act 1989.
Date of notification in Gazette: 19 October 2006.
