These regulations, which come into force on 13 July 2023, amend the Births, Deaths, Marriages, and Relationships Registration (Fees) Regulations 1995.

The amendments specify the fees a person must pay the Registrar-General under the Births, Deaths, Marriages, and Relationships Registration Act 2021 (the Act) for—

• providing to the Registrar-General under section 62 of the Act (for the purpose of recording in the registry of births, deaths, and relationships) a certificate issued outside New Zealand in respect of a divorce or dissolution of a marriage or civil union that occurred outside New Zealand relating to a New Zealand citizen, or a person ordinarily resident in New Zealand:

• requesting the Registrar-General under section 64 of the Act to issue a written statement as to whether the Registrar-General has received a certificate or information in relation to a divorce or dissolution that occurred overseas.
