These regulations are made under section 144(1)(l) of the Births, Deaths, Marriages, and Relationships Registration Act 2021—
(a)
on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council; and
(b)
on the recommendation of the Minister of Internal Affairs.
Regulations
1 Title
These regulations are the Births, Deaths, Marriages, and Relationships Registration (Fees) Amendment Regulations 2023.
2 Commencement
These regulations come into force on 13 July 2023.
3 Principal regulations
These regulations amend the Births, Deaths, Marriages, and Relationships Registration (Fees) Regulations 1995.
4 Schedule amended
In the Schedule, after item 18, insert:

Explanatory note
This note is not part of the regulations, but is intended to indicate their general effect.
These regulations, which come into force on 13 July 2023, amend the Births, Deaths, Marriages, and Relationships Registration (Fees) Regulations 1995.
The amendments specify the fees a person must pay the Registrar-General under the Births, Deaths, Marriages, and Relationships Registration Act 2021 (the Act) for—
providing to the Registrar-General under section 62 of the Act (for the purpose of recording in the registry of births, deaths, and relationships) a certificate issued outside New Zealand in respect of a divorce or dissolution of a marriage or civil union that occurred outside New Zealand relating to a New Zealand citizen, or a person ordinarily resident in New Zealand:
requesting the Registrar-General under section 64 of the Act to issue a written statement as to whether the Registrar-General has received a certificate or information in relation to a divorce or dissolution that occurred overseas.
Issued under the authority of the Legislation Act 2019.
