Explanatory note

This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This order brings into force, on 1 November 1997, section 26(2), section 28(1), and Schedule 3 of the Health Reforms (Transitional Provisions) Act 1993.

Section 26(2) repeals Part 2 of the Disabled Persons Community Welfare Act 1975, except sections 18 to 22A. That Part includes section 25, which requires that, in the construction or alteration of certain types of public building, access and facilities must be made available for people with disabilities.

Section 28(1) inserts into the Building Act 1991 a new section 47A, which is set out in Schedule 3 of the Health Reforms (Transitional Provisions) Act 1993. The new section 47A repeats (with minor amendments) section 25 of the Disabled Persons Community Welfare Act 1975.
