Telecommunications Network Operators Order 1998: revoked, on 18 September 2008, by clause 3(1)(d) of the Telecommunications Network Operator Orders Revocation Order 2008 (SR 2008/258).

PURSUANT to section 2A of the Telecommunications Act 1987, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, makes the following order.

1 Title and commencement

(1) This order may be cited as the Telecommunications Network Operators Order 1998.

(2) This order comes into force on the 28th day after the date of its notification in the Gazette.

Network operator status conferred

2 Orbitel Communications Limited to be network operator

Orbitel Communications Limited is a network operator for the purposes of the Telecommunications Act 1987.

3 Auckland Independent Television Services Limited to be network operator

Auckland Independent Television Services Limited is a network operator for the purposes of the Telecommunications Act 1987.

Revocation of network operator status

4 Network operator status of Telecable Holdings Limited revoked

The Telecommunications Network Operator (Telecable Holdings Limited) Order 1989¹ is revoked.

5 Network operator status of Multi Band Television Limited revoked

The Telecommunications Network Operator (Multi Band Television Limited) Order 1990² is revoked.

6 Network operator status of Comsys Limited, Ashburton CA TV Limited, and Pacificom Networks Limited revoked

Clauses 2, 3, and 5 of the Telecommunications Network Operators Order 1992³ are revoked.

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This order, which comes into force on the 28th day after the date of its notification in the Gazette, declares that Orbitel Communications Limited and Auckland Independent Television Services Limited are network operators for the purposes of the Telecommunications Act 1987.

The order also revokes the network operator status of Telecable Holdings Limited, Multi Band Television Limited, Comsys Limited, Ashburton CA TV Limited, and Pacificom Networks Limited. These companies no longer require network operator status.
