Explanatory note

This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This order, which comes into force on 1 December 1998, revokes the revocation orders and notices specified in the Schedule.

The report of the Regulations Review Committee in 1988 on the inquiry into all regulations in force as at 14 November 1988 recommended that revocation orders should be kept on the record for no longer than 5 years from promulgation. The Government accepted this recommendation with the reservation that there should be flexibility to keep revocation orders for longer than 5 years when required by the circumstances of the case.

The revocation orders and notices listed in the Schedule, which are no longer required to be kept on the record, were all promulgated prior to 1 January 1993.
