Pursuant to section 13 of the Fisheries Act 1996, the Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture, after having regard to the matters specified in that section, gives the following notice.

1  Title

  • This notice is the Fisheries (Rock Lobster Total Allowable Catches) Amendment Notice 2011.

2  Commencement

  • This notice comes into force on 31 March 2011.

3  Application

  • This notice applies on and from the fishing year commencing on 1 April 2011.

4  Principal notice amended
5  Schedule amended

  • The fourth column of the Schedule is amended by—

    • (a) omitting “610.625” and substituting “661.900”; and

    • (b) omitting “104.500” and substituting “95.700”; and

    • (c) omitting “1 110.000” and substituting “1 053.000”.

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the notice, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This notice, which comes into force on 31 March 2011, amends the Fisheries (Rock Lobster Total Allowable Catches) Notice 1999.

The amendments—

  • increase the total allowable catch for spiny rock lobster for the Wellington/Hawkes Bay quota management area (CRA 4) to 661.900 tonnes; and

  • decrease the total allowable catch for spiny rock lobster for the Otago quota management area (CRA 7) to 95.700 tonnes; and

  • decrease the total allowable catch for spiny rock lobster for the Southern quota management area (CRA 8) to 1 053.000 tonnes.

The changes apply on and from the fishing year commencing on 1 April 2011.

Date of notification in Gazette: 30 March 2011.
