Fire Service Levy Amendment Order 2000

This order is administered in the Department of Internal Affairs.

Pursuant to section 48(2) of the Fire Service Act 1975, Her Excellency the Administrator of the Government, acting on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council, makes the following order.

1 Title

  • (1) This order is the Fire Service Levy Amendment Order 2000.

    (2) In this order, the Fire Service Levy Order 19931 is called “the principal order”.

2 Commencement

  • This order comes into force on 1 March 2001.

3 Rate of levy

  • Clause 2 of the principal order is amended—

    • (a) by omitting from paragraph (a)(i) the expression “$4.96”, and substituting the expression “$5.84”:

    • (b) by omitting from paragraph (b)(i) the expression “6.20 cents”, and substituting the expression “7.30 cents”.

4 Revocation

  • The Fire Service Levy Amendment Order 1999 (SR 1999/372) is consequentially revoked.

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This order, which comes into force on 1 March 2001,—

  • •increases the fire service levy rate for motor vehicles (other than motor vehicles with a gross laden weight greater than 3.5 tonnes) from $4.96 to $5.84:

  • •increases the levy rate for other insured property from 6.2 cents to 7.3 cents for every $100 insured:

  • •consequentially revokes the Fire Service Levy Amendment Order 1999.
