Fisheries (Amateur Fishing) Amendment Regulations 2001: revoked, on 1 February 2014, pursuant to regulation 161(1)(a) of the Fisheries (Amateur Fishing) Regulations 2013 (SR 2013/482).

These regulations are administered in the Ministry for Primary Industries.
Pursuant to section 89 of the Fisheries Act 1983 and sections 297 and 298 of the Fisheries Act 1996, Her Excellency the Governor-General, acting on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council, makes the following regulations.

1 Title
-
(1) These regulations are the Fisheries (Amateur Fishing) Amendment Regulations 2001.
(2) In these regulations, the Fisheries (Amateur Fishing) Regulations 19861 are called
“the principal regulations”
.
2 Commencement
These regulations some into force on the 28th day after the date of their notification in the Gazette.
3 Rock lobster
Regulation 25(1)(a) of the principal regulations is amended by omitting the words
“taken in any one day”
, and substituting the words“in 1 day”
.
4 Offences
Regulation 29(1) of the principal regulations is amended by inserting, after the words
“comply with,”
, the words“regulation 19 or regulation 21 in respect of paua, or”
.

Explanatory note
This note is not part of the regulations, but is intended to indicate their general effect.
These regulations, which come into force on the 28th day after their notification in the Gazette, amend the Fisheries (Amateur Fishing) Regulations 1986 to—
provide that, under regulation 25(1)(a), a person must not possess more than 6 rock lobsters in 1 day, whether or not they were taken in 1 day:
increase, from $5,000 to $10,000, the maximum fine for 2 offences in respect of paua.
