Fisheries (Southland and Sub-Antarctic Areas Amateur Fishing) Amendment Regulations 2001: revoked, on 1 February 2014, pursuant to regulation 161(1)(f) of the Fisheries (Amateur Fishing) Regulations 2013 (SR 2013/482).

Pursuant to section 89 of the Fisheries Act 1983 and sections 297 and 298 of the Fisheries Act 1996, Her Excellency the Governor-General, acting on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council, makes the following regulations.

1 Title

(1) These regulations are the Fisheries (Southland and Sub-Antarctic Areas Amateur Fishing) Amendment Regulations 2001.

(2) In these regulations, the Fisheries (Southland and Sub-Antarctic Areas Amateur Fishing) Regulations 1991¹ are called “the principal regulations”.

2 Commencement

These regulations come into force on the 28th day after the date of their notification in the Gazette.

3 Maximum daily number of fish

Regulation 4(6) of the principal regulations is amended by revoking paragraph (a), and substituting the following paragraph:
- “(a) take more than 15 blue cod from within those waters of Paterson Inlet lying inside a straight line drawn from Ackers Point on Stewart Island (at approximately 46° 53.74'S and 168° 09.86'E) to Bullers Point on The Neck on Stewart Island (at approximately 46° 55.21'S and 168° 11.65'E); or”.

4 New regulation 5A substituted

The principal regulations are amended by revoking regulation 5A, and substituting the following regulation:
“5A Dredging prohibited in Paterson Inlet

No person may use or possess a dredge within those waters of Paterson Inlet lying inside a straight line drawn from Ackers Point on Stewart Island (at approximately 46° 53.74'S and 168° 09.86'E) to Bullers Point on The Neck on Stewart Island (at approximately 46° 55.21'S and 168° 11.65'E).”

5 Other restrictions relating to Paterson Inlet

Regulation 5AA is amended by omitting the words “(at 46° 53.83'S and 168° 09.82'E) to Bullers Point on Stewart Island (at 46° 55.26'S and 168° 11.45'E)”, and substituting the words “on Stewart Island (at approximately 46° 53.74'S and 168° 09.86'E) to Bullers Point on The Neck on Stewart Island (at approximately 46° 55.21'S and 168° 11.65'E)”.

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the regulations, but is intended to indicate their general effect.

These regulations, which come into effect on the 28th day after their notification in the Gazette, amend the Fisheries (Southland and Sub-Antarctic Areas Amateur Fishing) Regulations 1991 to—

clearly define the area closed to amateur dredging for Paterson Inlet, Stewart Island
correct errors in the co-ordinates for Paterson Inlet.
