Note
These regulations are administered in the Ministry of Consumer Affairs.
Pursuant to section 29 of the Fair Trading Act 1986, Her Excellency the Governor-General, acting on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council, and on the recommendation of the Minister of Consumer Affairs, makes the following regulations.

1 Title

(1) These regulations are the Product Safety Standards (Baby Walkers) Amendment Regulations 2005.
(2) In these regulations, the Product Safety Standards (Baby Walkers) Regulations 20011 are called
“the principal regulations”
.
2 Commencement
These regulations come into force on the 28th day after the date of their notification in the Gazette.
3 Product safety standard for baby walkers

(1) Regulation 5 of the principal regulations is amended by omitting the expression
“(ASTM F977–00)”
, and substituting the expression“(ASTM F977–03)”
.(2) The principal regulations are amended by revoking the Schedule, and substituting the Schedule set out in the Schedule of these regulations.

Explanatory note
This note is not part of the regulations, but is intended to indicate their general effect.
These regulations, which come into force on the 28th day after the date of their notification in the Gazette, amend the Product Safety Standards (Baby Walkers) Regulations 2001 ( the principal regulations).
Regulation 5 of the principal regulations declares certain subclauses of the American Safety Standard—Standard Consumer Safety Specification for Infant Walkers (ASTM F977—00) set out in the Schedule to be a product safety standard.
The amendments—
•change the references from the American Safety Standard—Standard Consumer Safety Specification for Infant Walkers (ASTM F977–00) to the revised American Safety Standard—Standard Consumer Safety Specification for Infant Walkers (ASTM F977–03):
•replace the Schedule of the principal regulations with a new schedule setting out in the second column the applicable subclauses in the revised Standard:
•adopt additional requirements from the revised Standard targeted at the structural integrity of baby walkers.
