Preamble
At Wellington this 13th day of November 2006
Pursuant to section 28 of the Citizenship Act 1977, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council, makes the following regulations.

1 Title
These regulations are the Citizenship Amendment Regulations (No 2) 2006.
2 Commencement
These regulations come into force on the date of their notification in the Gazette.
3 Principal regulations amended
These regulations amend the Citizenship Regulations 2002.
4 Refund for withdrawal of application for grant of citizenship in certain cases
Regulation 18A(1) of the principal regulations (as inserted by regulation 9 of the Citizenship Amendment Regulations 2006) is amended—
(a) by omitting
“$150”
from paragraph (a) and substituting“$310”
:
(b) by omitting
“$75”
from paragraph (b) and substituting“$155”

Explanatory note
This note is not part of the regulations, but is intended to indicate their general effect.
These regulations amend regulation 18A of the Citizenship Regulations 2002, which provides for partial refunds of citizenship fees in certain cases where there has been a withdrawal of an application for citizenship before completion of its initial processing.
The amendments increase the amounts refundable from $150 to $310 in the case of adults, and from $75 to $155 in the case of children.
