Pursuant to sections 18 and 19 of the Fisheries Act 1996, the Minister of Fisheries gives the following notice.

  • This notice comes into force on the day after the date of its notification in the Gazette.

3 New Stocks subject to quota management system

  • Schedule 1 of the principal notice is amended,—

    • (a) in relation to the species short-finned fresh-water eel (Anguilla australis and Anguilla reinhardtii), by—

      • (i) revoking the expression “10” in column 3 and substituting the expression “4” ; and

      • (ii) revoking the expression “SFE10” in column 4 and substituting the expression “SFE17” ; and

    • (b) in relation to the species long-finned fresh-water eel (Anguilla dieffenbachii), by—

      • (i) revoking the expression “10” in column 3 and substituting the expression “4” ; and

      • (ii) revoking the expression “LFE10” in column 4 and substituting the expression “LFE17”.

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the notice, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This notice takes effect on the day after the date of its notification in the Gazette. It corrects the references in Schedule 1 to the quota management area and QMS code for short-finned fresh-water eel and long-finned fresh-water eel, as notified in the principal notice bringing the specified stocks into the quota management system on and from 1 October 2003.
