These regulations are administered by the Ministry of Justice.
Pursuant to section 30A of the Oaths and Declarations Act 1957, Her Excellency the Administrator of the Government, acting on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council, makes the following regulations.
Regulations
1 Title
These regulations are the Oaths and Declarations (Māori Language) Regulations 2004.
2 Commencement
These regulations come into force on 1 July 2004.
3 Interpretation
In these regulations, Act means the Oaths and Declarations Act 1957.
4 Te Reo Māori equivalent for certain oaths and declarations
(1AAA)
The equivalent in te reo Māori for the declaration referred to in section 9 of the Act (Declaration made in New Zealand), and set out in Schedule 1 of the Act, is set out in form 1AAA of the Schedule.
(1AAB)
The equivalent in te reo Māori for the declaration set out in section 13 of the Act (Declaration of witness under 12) is set out in form 1AAB of the Schedule.
(1AAC)
The equivalent in te reo Māori for the oath set out in section 16 of the Act (Witness Oath in Scots form) is set out in form 1AAC of the Schedule.

The equivalent in te reo Māori for the oath set out in section 17 of the Act (Oath of Allegiance) is set out in form 1 of the Schedule.
(1A)
The equivalent in te reo Māori for the oath set out in section 18 of the Act (Judicial Oath) is set out in form 1A of the Schedule.

(3)

5 Te Reo Māori equivalent for certain spoken affirmations
(1)
The equivalent in te reo Māori for the affirmation that may, under section 4(2) of the Act, be made in place of the oath set out in section 17 of the Act (Oath of Allegiance) is set out in form 4 of the Schedule.
(1A)
The equivalent in te reo Māori for the affirmation that may, under section 4(2) of the Act, be made in place of the oath set out in section 18 of the Act (Judicial Oath) is set out in form 4A of the Schedule.
(2)

6 Te Reo Māori equivalent for certain written affirmations
(1)
The equivalent in te reo Māori for the affirmation that may, under section 4(3) of the Act, be made in writing in place of the oath set out in section 17 of the Act (Oath of Allegiance) is set out in form 7 of the Schedule.
(1A)

Notes
1 General
This is a consolidation of the Oaths and Declarations (Māori Language) Regulations 2004 that incorporates the amendments made to the legislation so that it shows the law as at its stated date.
2 Legal status
A consolidation is taken to correctly state, as at its stated date, the law enacted or made by the legislation consolidated and by the amendments. This presumption applies unless the contrary is shown.
Section 78 of the Legislation Act 2019 provides that this consolidation, published as an electronic version, is an official version. A printed version of legislation that is produced directly from this official electronic version is also an official version.
