Note
This order is administered in the Ministry of Health.
Pursuant to section 3(a) of the Health Act 1956, Her Excellency the Governor-General, acting on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council, makes the following order.
Order
1 Title
This order is the Infectious and Notifiable Disease (Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza) Order 2004.
2 Commencement
This order comes into force on the day after the date of its notification in the Gazette.
3 Infectious diseases notifiable to medical officer of health
Schedule 1 of the Health Act 1956 is amended by inserting in Section B of Part 1, after the item relating to Hepatitis (viral) not otherwise specified, the following item:
“Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (including HPAI subtype 145N1).”

Explanatory note
This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.
This order, which comes into force on the day after the date of its notification in the Gazette, inserts Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza in the list (of infectious diseases notifiable to a medical officer of health) in Section B of Part 1 of Schedule 1 of the Health Act 1956.
