Registered Architects Amendment Rules 2025
These rules are made by the New Zealand Registered Architects’ Board under section 67 of the Registered Architects Act 2005—
(a)
after complying with section 68 of that Act; and
(b)
after the approval of the Minister for Building and Construction required by section 69 of that Act; and
(c)
after publishing and consulting as required by rule 93 of the Registered Architects Rules 2006.
Rules
1 Title
These rules are the Registered Architects Amendment Rules 2025.
2 Commencement
These rules come into force on 1 July 2025.
3 Principal rules
These rules amend the Registered Architects Rules 2006.
4 Schedule 2 amended
(1)
In Schedule 2, item relating to initial registration,—
(a)
replace “1,200.60”
with “1,750.00”
:
(b)
replace “600.30”
with “875.00”
:
(c)
item relating to application for initial registration if there is no interactive assessment, replace “632.50”
with “1,750.00”
:
(d)
item relating to application for initial registration if the applicant was previously registered as a registered architect or as an architect under the Act or the Architects Act 1963, replace “632.50”
with “1,250.00”
:
(e)
replace “517.50”
with “700.00”

(2)
In Schedule 2, item relating to certificates of registration,—
(a)
replace “60.38”
with “79.17”

(b)
replace “724.50”
with “950.00”

Explanatory note
This note is not part of the rules but is intended to indicate their general effect.
These rules, which come into force on 1 July 2025, amend Schedule 2 of the Registered Architects Rules 2006. The amendments increase the charges payable by registered architects for services relating to initial registration and certificates of registration.
Date of notification in Gazette: 3 April 2025.
These rules are administered by the Ministry of Business, Innovation, and Employment.
