These regulations are made under section 105(1) of the Crown Minerals Act 1991 on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council.

Regulations
1 Title
These regulations are the Crown Minerals (Petroleum) Amendment Regulations (No 2) 2025.
2 Commencement
These regulations come into force on 18 December 2025.
3 Principal regulations
These regulations amend the Crown Minerals (Petroleum) Regulations 2007.
4 Regulation 38 amended (Annual report on prospecting or exploration activities)
In regulation 38(1), replace “31 March”
with “1 March”
.
5 Regulation 39 amended (Annual report on mining activities and production operations)
In regulation 39(1), replace “31 March”
with “1 March”
.
6 Regulation 40 amended (Annual report on underground gas storage facilities)

Explanatory note
This note is not part of the regulations but is intended to indicate their general effect.
These regulations, which come into force on 18 December 2025, amend the Crown Minerals (Petroleum) Regulations 2007 to bring forward the dates by which petroleum permit holders must supply annual reports to the chief executive from 31 March to 1 March.
Annual reports relating to the following must be supplied not later than 1 March after the close of each calendar year:
prospecting or exploration activities:
mining activities and production operations:
underground gas storage facilities:
expenditure.
Date of notification in Gazette: 20 November 2025.
These regulations are administered by the Ministry of Business, Innovation, and Employment.
