Explanatory note

This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This order, which comes into force on 3 September 2007, amends Section B of Schedule 2 of the Health Act 1956, which lists the diseases notifiable to a Medical Officer of Health (other than infectious diseases).

The item relating to non-occupational lead absorption is amended to change—

• •the unit of measurement of lead absorption from micrograms per decilitre to micromoles per litre; and

• •the notifiable level of lead absorption from 15 micrograms per decilitre (0.72 micromoles per litre) to 10 micrograms per decilitre (0.48 micromoles per litre).
