Explanatory note

This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

The Farmers' Mutual Group Act 2007 (the Act) is a private Act to—

• remove the Farmers' Mutual Insurance Association (FMIA) from the jurisdiction of the Mutual Insurance Act 1955:

• rename the FMIA the Farmers' Mutual Group:

• incorporate the Farmers' Mutual Group as a mutual association with the powers, capacity, and governance regime of a company under the Companies Act 1993.

Sections 1 and 2 and Part 1 of the Act came into force on 23 August 2007 (being the day after the date on which the Act received the Royal assent).

This order brings into force, on 1 April 2008, the rest of the Act, including—

• Part 2 (which relates to the incorporation and governance of the Farmers' Mutual Group); and

• the Schedule (which contains the form for the annual return of the Farmers' Mutual Group).
