This order is made under section 139 of the Local Government Act 2002—

(a)

on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council; and

(b)

on the recommendation of the Minister of Local Government (made at the request of the Auckland Council).

Order

1 Title

This order is the Local Government (Auckland Regional Parks) Amendment Order 2025.

2 Commencement

This order comes into force on 31 July 2025.

Clause 2: editorial change made by the PCO, on 21 August 2025, under sections 86(1) and 87(m) of the Legislation Act 2019 (2019 No 58).

3 Principal order

This order amends the Local Government (Auckland Regional Parks) Order 2008.

4 Schedule amended

In the Schedule, item relating to Auckland Botanic Gardens, after the item relating to NA35A/1458, insert:

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the order but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This order, which comes into force on the 28th day after the date of its notification in the Gazette, amends the Local Government (Auckland Regional Parks) Order 2008 (the principal order). The principal order protects, in perpetuity, the regional parks described in the Schedule of that order from disposition (whether by sale or otherwise).

This order amends the principal order to add an item in relation to the Auckland Botanic Gardens. The amendment extends the principal order to cover a parcel of land that has been added to that regional park.

Issued under the authority of the Legislation Act 2019.

Date of notification in Gazette: 3 July 2025.

This order is administered by the Department of Internal Affairs.
