Fisheries (Quota Management Areas, Total Allowable Catches, and Catch Histories) Amendment Notice (No 3) 2008
Pursuant to section 20 of the Fisheries Act 1996, the Minister of Fisheries, after having regard to the matters specified in section 21 of the Act, gives the following notice.
Notice
1 Title
This notice is the Fisheries (Quota Management Areas, Total Allowable Catches, and Catch Histories) Amendment Notice (No 3) 2008.
2 Commencement
This notice comes into force on 30 September 2008.
3 Application
This notice applies on and from the fishing year commencing on 1 October 2008.
4 Principal notice amended
This notice amends the Fisheries (Quota Management Areas, Total Allowable Catches, and Catch Histories) Notice 1986.
5 Schedule 1 amended
The item relating to bluenose in Schedule 1 is amended by—
(a) omitting from item A
“1 000”
and substituting“786”
:
(b) omitting from item B

and substituting“902”
:
(c) omitting from item C

and substituting“43”
:
(d) omitting from item D

Explanatory note
This note is not part of the notice, but is intended to indicate its general effect.
This notice, which comes into force on 30 September 2008, amends the Fisheries (Quota Management Areas, Total Allowable Catches, and Catch Histories) Notice 1986.
The effect of the amendment is to decrease the total allowable commercial catch for bluenose in—
the BNS1 quota management area from 1 000 tonnes to 786 tonnes:
the BNS2 quota management area from 1 048 tonnes to 902 tonnes:
the BNS3 quota management area from 925 tonnes to 505 tonnes:
the BNS7 quota management area from 150 tonnes to 89 tonnes:
the BNS8 quota management area from 100 tonnes to 43 tonnes.
The decreases apply on and from the fishing year commencing on 1 October 2008.
Date of notification in Gazette: 30 September 2008.
