These regulations are the Policing Regulations 2008.

(1) Regulation 4 comes into force on 1 July 2009.

(2) The rest of these regulations come into force on 31 October 2008.

In these regulations, Act means the Policing Act 2008.

The evidence of identity and authority the Commissioner is required to provide to every Police employee under section 96(1) of the Act—

• (a) must bear—

  • (i) a photographic image of the employee; and

  • (ii) a unique identifier (for example, an identification number) that distinguishes him or her from every other Police employee; and

• (b) must state,—

  • (i) in the case of an employee with only one name, that name:

  • (ii) in every other case, the employee's family name, and the other name or names by which he or she is commonly known.

(1) For the purposes of the definition in section 4 of the Act of Police article, this subclause describes—

• (a) the crest and badge first set out in the Schedule; and

• (b) the images secondly and thirdly set out in the Schedule; and

• (c) any shoulder patch bearing the arms (within the meaning of section 2 of the Flags, Emblems, and Names Protection Act 1981) of New Zealand above “POLICE”.

(2) For the purposes of the cessation of the protection by section 114 of the Act of the crest and badge referred to in paragraph (a) of that section, this subclause prescribes the crest and badge first set out in the Schedule.
