These regulations are made under section 269 of the Land Transport Act 1998 on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council.
Regulations
1 Title
These regulations are the Land Transport (Motor Vehicle Registration and Licensing) Amendment Regulations 2024.
2 Commencement
These regulations come into force on 4 July 2024.
3 Principal regulations
These regulations amend the Land Transport (Motor Vehicle Registration and Licensing) Regulations 2011.
4 Regulation 66 amended (Fees for information from register)

In regulation 66(3), after “or (2)”
, insert “in relation to 1 or more individually identified motor vehicles or by 1 or more named persons”
in each place.

The Registrar may waive any fee payable under subclause (1) or (2) in relation to a class of persons, including a class of persons defined by reference to their use of a particular online service, or in relation to a class of vehicles, if the Registrar considers that it would help to implement any system that promotes efficient compliance with a land transport Act.

An instrument granting a waiver under subclause (4) is secondary legislation (see Part 3 of the Legislation Act 2019 for publication requirements).

Explanatory note
This note is not part of the regulations but is intended to indicate their general effect.
These regulations, which come into force on 4 July 2024, amend the Land Transport (Motor Vehicle Registration and Licensing) Regulations 2011 (the principal regulations). These regulations amend regulation 66 of the principal regulations to enable the Registrar of Motor Vehicles to waive, on a class basis, fees payable by persons seeking information from the register of motor vehicles.

These regulations are administered by the Ministry of Transport.
