Pursuant to the Vegetables Levy Act 1957, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby makes the following order.

1 Title and commencement

(1) This order may be cited as the Vegetables Levy Extension Order 1987.

(2) This order shall come into force on 7 August 1987.

2 Amendment to schedule of Vegetables Levy Act

Schedule 1 of the Vegetables Levy Act 1957 is hereby amended by omitting from the list of crops specified in that schedule the item “Early potatoes”, and substituting the item “Potatoes (including seed potatoes)”.

3 Revocation

The Vegetables Levy (Early Potatoes) Regulations 1962 (SR 1962/80) are hereby revoked.

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

The effect of this order, which comes into force on 7 August 1987, is to extend the levy under the Vegetables Levy Act 1957 so that it applies to all potatoes. The levy has previously applied only to early potatoes while main crop potatoes have been subject to a levy under the Potato Industry (Main Crop Levy) Regulations 1980. Those regulations are revoked by an Order in Council that also comes into force on 7 August 1987.
