PURSUANT to section 1(2) of the Penal Institutions Amendment Act 1994, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, makes the following order.
1 Title
This order may be cited as the Penal Institutions Amendment Act 1994 Commencement Order 1997.
2 Commencement of section 8 of Penal Institutions Amendment Act 1994
Section 8 of the Penal Institutions Amendment Act 1994 comes into force on 1 February 1998.

Explanatory note
This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.
This order brings into force, on 1 February 1998, section 8 of the Penal Institutions Amendment Act 1994. That section inserts sections 10A and 10B (which relate to operational standards) into the Penal Institutions Act 1954.
