Coinage Proclamation 1949: revoked, on 12 May 2011, by clause 3 of the Regulatory Reform (Revocations) Order 2011 (SR 2011/99).

These regulations are administered in the Treasury.
PURSUANT to section 8 of the Coinage Act 1933, and for the purpose of determining the dimensions and design of a certain New Zealand coin of a denomination mentioned in the Schedule to the said Act—namely, the silver crown—to be made and issued during the year one thousand nine hundred and forty-nine, hereinafter called the said coin, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Bernard Cyril Freyberg, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim as follows:—

This Proclamation may be cited as the Coinage Proclamation 1949.

The said coin shall be circular with a graining upon the edge, and shall measure 1.525 in in diameter.

The design of the obverse impression shall be the uncrowned effigy of His Majesty the King with the legend
“King George the Sixth.”

The design of the reverse impression shall be a fern frond between four five-pointed stars representing the constellation of the Southern Cross with the legend
“New Zealand Crown 1949”
.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, and issued under the Seal of that Dominion, this 7th day of October, 1949.
