Explanatory note

This note is not part of the regulations, but is intended to indicate their general effect.

These regulations, which come into force on 1 August 2012, amend the Companies Act 1993 Regulations 1994. The amendments—

• decrease the fee for an application to register a company under section 12(1) of the Companies Act 1993 (the Act) from $250 (or $150 if the application is lodged by electronic means) to a fee in all cases of $130:

• change the fee for registration of an annual return under section 214(1) of the Act from $30 (or nil if the return is lodged by electronic means) to a fee in all cases of $25:

• increase the fee for an application to register an overseas company under section 336(1) of the Act from $100 to $130:

• decrease the fee for registration of an annual return by an overseas company under section 340(1) of the Act from $30 to $25.
