Present:
Her Excellency the Administrator of the Government in Council
Pursuant to section 37 of the Layout Designs Act 1994, Her Excellency the Administrator of the Government, acting on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council, and on the recommendation of the Minister of Commerce (made after being satisfied of the matters specified in section 37(2) of that Act), makes the following order.

Order
1 Title
This order is the Layout Designs (Eligible Countries) Amendment Order 2012.
2 Commencement
This order comes into force on 23 August 2012.
3 Principal order
This order amends the Layout Designs (Eligible Countries) Order 2000 (the principal order).
4 Schedule amended
-
(1) In the Schedule,—
(a) replace the item relating to Bolivia with
“Bolivia, Plurinational State of”
; and
(b) replace the item relating to the European Communities with
“European Union”
; and
(c) replace the item relating to Kyrgyzstan with
“Kyrgyz Republic”
; and
(d) replace the item relating to the Netherlands with
“Netherlands, Kingdom of the”
; and
(e) replace the item relating to Venezuela with
“Venezuela, Bolivarian Republic of”
.
(2) In the Schedule, insert in their appropriate alphabetical order:

Explanatory note
This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.
This order, which comes into force on 23 August 2012, amends the Layout Designs (Eligible Countries) Order 2000 (the principal order). The Schedule of the principal order lists entities that are party to an international agreement relating to the protection of layout designs, to which New Zealand is also a party, or that are subject to law that gives reciprocal protection to layout designs made or first commercially exploited in New Zealand. The principal order declares these entities to be eligible countries for the purposes of the Layout Designs Act 1994.
Clause 4(1) of this order corrects references to countries already listed in the Schedule of the principal order to reflect changes in the official names of those countries.
Clause 4(2) of this order adds to the Schedule of the principal order the names of countries that have joined the World Trade Organization.
