Regulations

1 Title

These regulations are the Cultural Property (Protection in Armed Conflict) (Convention Emblem) Regulations 2013.

2 Commencement

These regulations come into force on 1 July 2013.

3 Interpretation

In these regulations,—

Convention means the Convention for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict, done at The Hague on 14 May 1954

distinctive emblem means the distinctive emblem of the Convention (as described in the Convention).

4 Distinctive emblem

The form of the distinctive emblem is illustrated in the Schedule.

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the regulations, but is intended to indicate their general effect.

These regulations come into force on 1 July 2013, the date that the Cultural Property (Protection in Armed Conflict) Act 2012 comes into force. They set out the form of the distinctive Convention emblem. The Convention emblem refers to the distinctive emblem of the Convention for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict, done at The Hague on 14 May 1954, together with any design so closely resembling it as to be capable of being mistaken for it.

The Schedule illustrates the form of the distinctive emblem of the Convention for ease of reference.
